Harvard Business School’s second annual International “Piscology” Competition, sponsored by the HBS Wine and Cuisine Society, La Diablada Pisco and 33 Restaurant & Lounge will take place March 7, 2007 from 7-9pm. The International “Piscology” Competition brings together these top mixologists in their field who have been hand-selected from around the world by the HBS Wine & Cuisine Society for their spirits knowledge, creativity, and hospitality expertise.

Each year, the competition focuses on the eclectic spirit La Diablada Pisco, a Peruvian brandy, which serves as a remarkable ingredient because of its versatility yet novelty presenting a real challenge to bar chefs.

The evening of March 7, 2007 will begin at the 33 Restaurant & Lounge, the competition’s annual venue and Boston’s premier cocktail bar, with Melanie da Trindade-Asher, owner and distiller of La Diablada Pisco giving a brief presentation on her family’s piscos, La Diablada and Macchu Pisco. Melanie, a Peruvian native, has ties to Boston going back to when she attended Harvard Business School in 2003.

This year the battle of the bar chefs will be tight as Ms Joey Farrell of 33, goes head to head with award winning British bartender Mr. Angus Winchester from Alconomics and DC’s Renown Shaker Mr. Chris Cunningham of Dino Restaurant. The winner of the Business School’s first Piscology Competition, Ari Bialikamien, will raise the stakes as he will be contending these three to keep his title as the HBS Master Mixologist.

The judging will be comprised of the Harvard Business School’s student body, who will judge the cocktails on business metrics- Marketability (taste, visual appeal, name) and Sustainability (economic profit, trainability). We hope you, esteemed members of the press, will also join us as our honored judges and witness master mixologists at innovation.
